President's Message

You’ve found the right place to be—Beta Sigma Phi. I hope you are here to learn more about the organization and that you are considering joining our ranks. First, welcome and I am so glad you are here. It is my pleasure to tell you a bit about our organization. Southwest Houston City Council of Beta Sigma Phi is comprised of individual chapters of sorority sisters. We are part of Beta Sigma Phi International, which is a non-academic women’s sorority with more than 200,000 members in chapters around the world. Our motto is “Life, Learning, and Friendship.”  BSP was founded in Abilene, Kansas in 1931 by Walter W. Ross" for the social, cultural, and civic enrichment of its members.” From its beginnings as a book club, the organization grew. We are currently accepting new members in the southwest Houston region. If you live in Sugar Land, Katy, Missouri City, Richmond, or the surrounding areas, we’d love to have you visit with us. 

Our theme this year is “Beta Sigma Phi – The right place to be!” We believe BSP is the right place to be for sisterhood, learning, cultural experiences, volunteering, and finding forever friends. I’ve been a member for more than 20 years; I am pleased to tell you that my life has been enriched immeasurably by BSP. With my forever friends, I’ve enjoyed more good times than I ever imagined. From chapter meetings, social activities, and cultural outings; we’ve had amazing experiences that I will never forget. More importantly, I’ve found sisters I can count on for support and love during all of life’s challenges—which are numerous.  

I am extending a personal invitation to you to visit with us. You will find a warm welcome from a diverse group of caring women. On behalf of my sisters, we think the BSP is the right place for you to be. Come for a visit.  Extending a warm welcome to you to join us for one of our upcoming events or meetings.
