I am profoundly grateful to serve as the 2026-2027 President of Beta Sigma Phi Southwest Houston City Council. I warmly welcome you to discover what makes this sisterhood so special to me. Over the years, I have been blessed to build many cherished friendships across chapters. The camaraderie we share is truly remarkable.
In Beta Sigma Phi, it is inspiring to witness the willingness of so many sisters to lend a hand and work together on project through our collective efforts. Together, we solve challenges, strengthen our bonds, and forge deeper connections with one another. Service is a binding force that unites us, enriching our lives with meaningful friendships and genuine care for one another.
Beta Sigma Phi is a non-collegiate, non-sectarian, and non-political sorority founded in 1931 by Walter Ross. Our motto, “Life, Learning and Friendship” truly captures the essence of the organization. As an international organization, Beta Sigma Phi offers women of ages 18 – older a unique opportunity for friendship, personal development, cultural enrichment, and community outreach.
This year’s theme, “Sisters Light the World” beautifully reflects our sisterhood. Beta Sigma Phi welcomes each of us as Sisters, and everyone of us shines with a unique and special light. That light may come through the talents we share, the kindness we offer or the encouragement we give to one another. Often, it is the smallest gestures that brighten someone else’s world.
As Sisters in Beta Sigma Phi, let us remember to “Leave the light on” as we move forward together in the coming year.
With Sisterly Love,
Joan Batts
